Divine Mystery Supreme

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change”…

So good…right? Any guesses as to who was quoted with this saying?

Here’s the thing about that quote, which I love by the way. You can interpret it in a variety of ways, but here’s what it means to me…

If I want to seek change in the world around me, then I must change myself. Which has nothing to do with changing the world. That’s too big of a challenge, especially today. That isn’t to say that one shouldn’t try, but maybe start small and build up from there. As humans we should all drive change, but ultimately change has to start with ourselves.

Here’s more of that quote…”As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him”….

This picture is from 1/1/2018, New Years Eve just after midnight…at the time little did we know 10 months later we would enter an entirely new lifestyle packed full of changes. In the months to follow, we didn’t like the World around us. We appreciated what we had and we were grateful for each other, but we found a lack of control. We knew that there was only so much we could control when you are buried in debt, working long hours to pay that debt, minimal amounts of time to do the things we wanted to do, and the feeling of resentment towards everything we’ve worked hard for. We found a solution and it required changing ourselves so that we could change the world around us. Amazing things have happened since then. You guys know 😉

Here’s the last words of the full quote, “This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Don’t wait for the world to change around you. Start with yourself and watch what happens to YOUR WORLD
