Our 1906 Folk Victorian Farmhouse Renovation

We have a 3 foot hole in our living room floor

But no worries, it’s completely intentional. This part of the house happens to be the oldest and the hardest to reach from underneath. Whatever the classification is for less than crawl room is what it would take to get in this space from underneath the house. Any average adult by today’s standards just won’t fit, so we are tackling this issue from above.

So strange to see the sunlight beam from underneath…

But in order to fix foundation footings and floor joists it’s completely necessary. This particular area of the living room had significant sloping. So much so if you zoom in, you can see the large cracks in the walls.

What’s important to us…

Is making the necessary repairs to give our home another 116 years of life. Aesthetics aside, insuring that the bones of the home remain solid is critically important & we know it won’t completely rectify the sloping of the floors, but it is necessary.
