Our Story

Smoky Mountain Snowstorms

Whew…after 72 hours without power & 7 inches of snow, our cabin @alpenrosecabin finally has power again. Thanks to all the SCES linemen and utility crews for working in these terrible conditions.

We had guests check in one day before this snowstorm arrived and we quickly found them hotel accommodations that had electricity. Fortunately, we found some availability for their entire family as they had traveled from 12 hours away. It’s a good thing too because the temp fell to 30 degrees inside the cabin! According to our thermostat, it’s currently 46 degrees & warming.

Our guests did give us news that our nearby neighbors had a downed tree fall through a portion of their cabin and to our knowledge no one was hurt. Last year, we had a tree service come out and take down some trees around our cabin for this very reason.

The bad news?

We have another 4-6 inches forecasted to arrive tomorrow morning!
